UPDATE: Thanks for all your support so far! A meeting for volunteers wishing to help welcome refugees will be held at the Seeds church on Tuesday Dec. 8 at 7:30.
Visit facebook.com/Build-A-Village for the latest info.
Build a Village has agreed to sponsor 5 high need Syrian families (in partnership with MCC and Canada Immigration). Many of you have been asking when the families will be arriving, and our answer to that continues to be we don't know. But it could be soon. We are thankful for the way that God continues to move.
One is we have found a Storage facility which should have lots of room to store the furniture and household needs for 5 families. It should be easily accessible for moving in and out!! The place is the former Sawatzky's Furniture Building. We continue to look for housing and will let you know when there are some confirmations. Any thoughts you have let us know.
Many churches and groups are looking for gifting ideas for Christmas. Cindy Klassen is sending out lists of needs that we supply that are new (available to the right). We are also including another list of needs that we have such as furniture, household needs from vacuum cleaners to mixing bowls. We expect these items to be in good condition/gently used. You may also choose to purchase something new from the list. Please let us know what you have to donate, so that our master list will stay as current as possible. We appreciate the donations of furniture etc. that are coming in. Thanks also for the fundraisers that are happening to raise money for the Syrian families.
We would like to have a list of people available to help with moving furniture. If you would be available for Gary to call you as needed, he would appreciate some volunteers willing and able. If you also know of people who have trucks/trailers that could be used during those times please let him know. In the next few days we hope to provide you with some further information.
If you have questions please contact Ray Loewen, 324-6494 (days); 204-324-7786 (cell); Gary or Val Klassen, 324-5713 (home); Cindy Klassen, 324-6369 (home).
