I've been dreaming about a bicycle ride across the USA from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic ocean starting in San Diego, CA to St Augustine Florida. I have felt led to make this adventure a fundraiser for Seeds of Hope, to show support for the work being done in the lives of these kids in Africa.
Starting January 29th, Lord willing, Albert Falk and I will dip our wheels in the ocean and start pedaling eastward, Albert for 20ish days and myself for up to 60 days. So together with the missions committee at the Altona EMMC we have come up with a plan to give the opportunity to pledge funds to SOH based on a per km system. Lump sum funds won't be turned down.
I'll attempt to do the work for 60 days; the more funds people pledge per km for these kids the more obligation and motivation I will have to keep on going when the going gets tough. When the hills get harder, the mountains get taller, the nights colder, the wind stronger, when the sleeping quarters get elusive, the water bottles get empty, the dogs get faster and the devil tells me to pack it in, you can't do this. I'll remember the pledges you people have committed to SOH and keep on pedaling.
Riding my bike for 60 days will provide some bad days, however, the worst of my days are likely minor compared to what these kids have had to journey through.
Would you help in supporting these kids in their journey?
